St. Francis Hospital is a 260-bed acute care general medical surgical located Milwaukee's south side which has been serving the community since 1956. Areas of specialty include laser/laparoscopic surgery, interventional radiology, comprehensive women's health services (including a Level II neonatal nursery and a women's health center, the Reiman Center for Health & Wellness); neurology; 24-hour emergency services; outpatient services; cancer and palliative care; sports medicine; work injury rehabilitation; and a spine center.
The hospital is nationally and internationally recognized for its out-standing cardiac program, which includes catheterization, angioplasty, electrophysiology and surgery services. Advanced surgical technology includes a cerebral brain oximeter, the first of its kind in Wisconsin, a device to measure oxygen to the brain during critical heart surgeries. This technology is crucial to the prevention of strokes following surgery. Additionally, the St. Francis Wellness Center in the Rawson Medical Center (located in Franklin, Wisconsin), offers a unique health approach which blends diagnostics and health and wellness assessments with complementary therapies and holistic programs. Presently under construction is the St. Francis Hospital Center for Cancer Care, also in Franklin.
The St. Francis Hospital campus is also home to The Terrace at St. Francis, a subacute facility that provides rehabilitation and additional care for patients after hospital discharge. |
