The LIFELINE program at St. Michael Hospital is designed to help individuals live alone knowing that help is within reach. LIFELINE also gives family members peace-of-mind knowing that their loved ones have immediate access to help anytime of the day or night. Anyone in the Greater Milwaukee Area may sign up for the LIFELINE Program - St. Michael Hospital does not have to be your preferred hospital, nor does your doctor need to be on our staff.

How LIFELINE Works

"You wear a small help button on a chain around your neck or on a strap around your wrist. If you need help, you just press the button.
"Pressing the button signals your home unit to dial St. Michael Hospital's Emergency Response Center. (LIFELINE works as long as you are within 200 feet of your home unit - even during a power failure or when your phone is off the hook.)
"Trained people are at the Response Center 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. After you press your button, they will call your home to see what help you need.
" If they do not reach you by phone, they will call a "responder" to go to your home to check on you. Responders can be friends, family members or neighbors you have chosen to be called in case of an emergency.
"When the responder arrives at your home, they press the reset button on the front of you home unit. This signals our Emergency Response Center that help has arrived. Someone from the Center will then call your home to see if help is needed. (An ambulance will be sent if necessary.

There is a monthly fee for this service.
