The Rehabilitation Institute at St. Michael Hospital offers a comprehensive array of inpatient and outpatient physical medicine services which combine the latest therapies and technologies with personalized care and concern. Professional staff members work closely with patients who are recovering form athletic and orthopedic injuries. In addition, specially trained staff helps those who have experienced neurological or cardiovascular difficulties to relearn skills, regain abilities and return to a life of functional independence.


Two Locations

Rehabilitation services are provided at two convenient locations: our physical medicine department is located on the first floor of the Hospital and our Health Center is located five miles north of the Hospital in Brown Deer. At St. Michael Hospital, comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative care is available in recently remodeled physical medicine facilities. Specialty programs include: back care and education, an amputee clinic, dysphasia, drivers screening and hand therapy.

At the St. Michael Hospital Health Center fitness and wellness programs are emphasized in a free-standing, state-of-the-art athletic center. A full range of outpatient rehabilitation services including education , evaluation and consultation is offered for individuals, organizations and industries. Specialty programs include sports, orthopedic, cardiac and work injury rehabilitation.


Staff

A multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation experts works with each patient's physician. Staff members include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, registered nurses, audiologists, athletic trainers, exercise physiologists and other health care professionals.


Programs and Services

"Amputee Clinic - Physical therapists and physicians work with patients on prosthetic fit, gait analysis, and training.
"Audiology - A full array of hearing services including complete audiograms, air and bone conduction studies, typanometry, electromystagmography, and auditory brain stem response.
"Back Facts Program - Educational classes and individualized progressive exercise programs to improve strength and conditioning.
